A Little Bit Of Japan In San Francisco

Japantown comprises about six square city blocks in the Western Addition of San Francisco. The area is home to a large number of Japanese (and some Korean and Chinese) restaurants, supermarkets, indoor shopping malls, hotels, banks and other shops, including one of the few U.S. branches of the large Kinokuniya bookstore chain. Its focal point is the Japan Center (opened in 1968), the site of three Japanese-oriented shopping centers and the Peace Pagoda, a five-tiered concrete stupa designed by Japanese architect Yoshiro Taniguchi and presented to San Francisco by the people of Osaka, Japan.

If you're looking for a unique gift to take back home, then the best place to start looking is in San Francisco's Japantown. More specifically - Japan Center, where you'll find specialty shops, a movie theater, sushi bars, and traditional restaurants all within walking distance.

In Miyako Mall, beautiful showrooms of exotic Chinese natural stones can be found, you'll come across antiques and find all kinds of Japanese collectibles and custom-made furniture. There are also plenty of restaurants to go around as well, if you visit the Kintetsu Mall, there is a pathway of restaurants that should satisfy your midday cravings. From noodles and rice dishes to sushi to go, the mall has pretty much everything. And while most of the restaurants are sit-down style, there are carry-out options, such as Osakaya, which offers various container meals filled with samples of sushi, side dishes, noodles, and rice.

And aside from the shopping and eating experience, a trip to Japan Center will also give you a chance to mingle with neighborhood residents, SF locals, and other out-of-town visitors. When you do visit here, you'll find a very friendly vibe. Like Chinatown, you feel welcomed here. One note: make sure to actually walk into the Peace Plaza and gaze up at the Peace Pagoda in Nihonmachi. Erected in 1968 as a symbol of eternal peace, it's an inspiring example of architecture that should cap off your visit to Japantown's "heart" like nothing else.

San Francisco hotels can be found in this area housed in some historic buildings. However it is recommended that for visitors who wish to get the most out of their visit to stay in a hotel in San Francisco that lets you get around almost all of the sights of the city. A stay in Japantown can often feel cramped and boring if you decide to stay here too long.

Attractions in Bournemouth - An Easy, Comprehensive Guide to All Tourist and Local Attractions

A now established attraction with a birds eye view of the Town is a balloon ride on a tethered rope, which rises to 250 feet above the ground affording panoramic views of the Town and beach. There is a great Oceanarium with a walk through tunnel and all of the usual species that inhabit various parts of the oceans. This is right on the seafront. Another great attraction perhaps Bournemouth's best is the Bournemouth International Centre constantly playing host to a variety of top concerts and activities. It is perhaps one of the main sources of tourism to Bournemouth. Always happening.

The Wonderland Maze is a great day out for children under the age of 13. It is situated right opposite Bournemouth Airport and has a multitude of themed areas and activities to keep children entertained. Roughly based on the Alice in Wonderland books. Another excellent day out particularly for boys is the Aviation Museum which hosts vampires, phantoms and a surprisingly large collection of aircraft for a medium sized museum. Some of which you are able to sit in - particularly if you are as adept as a baboon to clamber into the cockpits - will bring out the boy in you.

Besides these all of Dorset's historical attractions and best attractions are within easy reach, from historic castles to traditional quaint villages and a Jurassic coastline stretching all the way to Lyme Regis. Monkey World, a world famous ape rescue centre, Bovington Tank Museum housing a collection of tanks from many eras that is the envy of most tank museums around the World. Lastly on my list is Beaulieu Motor Museum which is home to perhaps the finest collection of cars in the world on par with Haynes Motor Museum. The collection includes cars from all eras, world land speed record breaking cars along with an impressive collection of super cars.

There are literally too many attractions to mention so listed are some of the finest available attractions available in the region.

What to Do When in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is both on the Canadian border and United States border, but the city Niagara Falls is located in Canada and happens to be one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Niagara Falls has always been a tourist hot spot and there is absolutely everything you could imagine to do down there. You'd be best visiting Niagara Falls during the summer months because this is when the scene is most happening and when you can do the most things. During the winter it gets kind of dull as its cold and none of the attractions are open.

When you go to Niagara Falls you want to stay down by Lundy's Lane which is where all the action is. There are many hotels lining this area and you can find something for any price range that you desire to spend. You probably won't be spending much time while in your hotel room though so you probably don't need to go out and spend a lot on the room, instead you should save the money for the many attractions available to you.

There is a ton of stuff all in one remote area in Niagara Falls and you can walk to everything in the area. Near the hotels there are a couple streets lined with stores, museums, games and restaurants, you'll definitely find everything you need in these stores and you can spend an entire day just going through everything. There are also small rides available on the streets for children and for older people you can view the awesome museums in the area such as the Ripley's Believe it or not Museum.

After you get enough of the stores and museums you can have an awesome dinner at one of the restaurants in the area. For the night time there are some bars in the area that you can go to and also an awesome casino. The casino is open all night long and it's always filled with tourists and locals spending their money trying to win some. The casino is the best casino I've been to and although it doesn't compare to the best in Vegas it can hold its own and is very well designed and decorated.

You can also spend a day at the huge indoor waterpark in Niagara Falls and it isn't down at the strip though. You need to travel a bit out of the main tourist area to get to the indoor waterpark, but it's one of the biggest in the country and is unmatchable fun for the children. There is also a huge outlet mall and some mini-putt and go-karting courses in the area near the waterpark, so it's very easy to spend a day up in this area alone while in Niagara Falls. It doesn't cost a lot to visit the tourist area and prices don't rise too much compared to other local regions so you can manage to go to Niagara Falls on basically any budget. A lot of young teenagers and adults frequent the motels in the main tourist area so you don't want to typically stay there if you're with children because it can get noisy. There are lots of affordable hotels in the area though for your vacation.

10. The Imperial War Museum

11. The Science Museum

12. St Paul's Cathedral

13. The Natural History Museum

I would also recommend people to take a boat trip along the Thames; this gives you a good view of part of the city and is a break from all of the walking.

The Best Things to Do on a Summer Vacation to Canada

Canada is a fairly large country, and one of the largest countries in the world. It's also one of the most populated countries and has one of the strongest economies. With a strong economy basically throughout most of the country you're guaranteed to find tourist attractions to visit in the summer months. I'd say Canada receives more tourists in the winter months then the summer months simply because it's known as the cold winter country with lots of mountains. With that begin said though Canada still offers amazing opportunities for any traveler.

One of the main attractions in Canada is the Niagara Falls which is right on the border to the United States and many Americans visit the falls on a regular basis. Niagara Falls is the birthplace of many marriages and even more romantic honeymoons. The capital of romance in the country is Niagara Falls so even many of the residents of Canada make there way to Niagara Falls for a vacation every once in a while. I've been to the falls a few times myself and I never get bored when I'm down there, as there is so much to see and do especially in the summer months when the weather is nice.

If you go east and take a look at the eastern coast you'll be able to find provinces like Newfoundland and New Brunswick which are also very popular regions in the summer. The economy isn't quite as strong in the eastern provinces as the rest of Canada, but they have the best fishing you'll find in the country and possibly one of the best fishing regions in the world. Connected directly with the ocean you can catch a number of different seafood including lobster which is the specialty down there. If you're use to high priced lobster and you visit one of the eastern provinces you'll fall in love, simply because they have the best lobsters at insanely low prices. All the seafood you consume in the eastern provinces is also usually fresh from that day which makes the vacation experience more real. Anyone who enjoys fishing and eating seafood will love what Canada eastern provinces offers the tourists of the world.

On the west coast of the country you'll find the mountains and although there is no snow on them in the summer you can utilize the amazing mountains for hiking and other outdoor summer activities. You can also check out areas such as Edmonton for there massive mall and Calgary for the Calgary Stampede. The Stampede is a worldwide event and draws in thousands of tourists throughout the time it commences. Vancouver is also another city worth touring on the west coast.

You'll need a solid month to be able to do a cross country vacation, but if you have the time then there is nothing more complete and better then spending a month traveling through Canada. There is always something to do in every corner of the country which makes it so hard to do everything in one vacation. Many people will spend a week in each city and then come back the following year and visit another city, this is recommended so that you don't miss anything when in the cities.

Alicante Spain

Alicante is a historic Mediterranean port city situated in the southern part of the Land of Valencia, in Spain. Uniquely located between the sea and the mountains, the city, it is both a commercial town and a popular tourist destination in Spain. In administrative terms, Alicante is the headquarters of the province of Alicante. It is also the second biggest Valencian city, which is home to over 0.3 million people.

If to browse through the pages of Spanish history, it becomes evident that Alicante has had inhabitants since at least 7000 years back. Its early inhabitants were the hunter gatherers who moved down from Central Europe to the Spanish terrains between 5000 and 3000 BC. Greek and Phoenician traders followed suit in 1000 BC. But, the events that had permanently altered the destiny of Alicante came not before the 6th century BC, when the region started to figure in the territorial expansion plans of the two powerful conflicting armies of that time - the Carthage and Rome. In fact, that was a period that had impacted virtually every traditional settlement of the early Europe. Not many parts of Europe had escaped the Roman invasion in those times, and the destiny of Alicante was also no different from theirs.

After the decline of the Romans in the 5th century, Alicante passed hands quite a number of times, came under the war lord Teodmiro, and had a brief period of Arab occupation, before it eventually fell under the rule of the Castellan king Alfonso X in 1246. However, that was not to end the cycle of wars and conquests - which was a common phenomenon in the medieval Europe - Alicante has to withstand as it took another three more centuries to settle down as a major trading station in the continent. Historians consider this 15th century period as the golden age of Alicante. But, as it is said that there is every low for every high, the city went through another low in the 18th and 19th centuries owing to different political reasons. But the end of the 19th century saw a vast revival of fortunes for Alicante and the city slowly clawed its way back to prosperity, thanks to international trade and a new world order (Spain was a neutral nation during the World War I).

The present day economy of Alicante is mostly based on tourism, wine production and export, and a thriving service industry. In terms of tourism, Alicante has some of the best beaches in the world, and its heritage is something that is unmatched in the whole of Europe. The major attractions in and around the city include the "Castillo de Santa Barbara", City Hall Building, Paseo de la Explanada, Concatedral de San Nicolás de Bari and other cathedrals from the medieval periods, Palacio Gravina, Museo Municipal Casa de la Asegurada, and its many beaches - La Playa de San Juan, La Albufereta, and El Saladar and Los Judios, to name a few. Bonfires of Saint John and Moros y Cristianos are the two festivals characteristic of Alicante that are must-see events.

Alicante airport has connections to all parts of Spain and Europe. Alicante also has a bus station and a central train station that offers daily connections to Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona and Seville. Bus services cover virtually every part of Spain. To know more about Alicante, visit the city page.
